History

Spikens fishing village, along with Läckö Castle is one of West Sweden’s most visited tourist attractions. Spiken has a long history and have been a fishing harbor for many years.

In the 1980´s the harbor was modernized and today the harbor is one of Europe’s largest freshwater ports. You can buy smoked or fresh fish and many kinds of delicacies. The conference and handcraft center, Fyren (the lighthouse) opened in 2005. The conference room can be rented for conferences, celebrations and cultural activities. You can also visit the restaurant Sjöboden.  In the spring of 2008, twenty-one condominiums were built in the western harbor.
